Which Grocery Stores Are Open on Christmas Eve?

We’ve gathered a list of popular supermarkets that plan to welcome customers on Christmas Eve. Most are retailers whose weekly flyers are featured right here on our site – but we’ve gone beyond just those to give you a more complete picture.

Just remember: some grocery stores will be closing earlier than usual, so be sure to double-check hours at your local location.

Kroger

All Kroger stores will be open on Christmas Eve until 6 pm. In more rural areas, hours may vary based on local traffic and store manager discretion. Expect shortened hours across the board. And also open other stores under Kroger umbrella: Metro Market, Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers etc.

CVS

This pharmacy chain is known for staying open during most holidays, including Christmas Eve – though hours may vary by location.

Dierbergs

Stores will be open on Wednesday, December 24th until 5.30 pm.

Wayfield

Stores will be open until 8 pm on Wednesday, December 24th.

Stop and Shop

All Stop and Shop stores will stay open until 6 pm on the Wednesday, December 24th, 2025.

Dollar General

True to form, Dollar General will be open on Christmas Eve until 10 pm, keeping convenience front and center for last-minute shoppers.

Albertsons

All stores will be open until 4 pm.

Lidl

Lidl stores will be open.

Meijer

Supermarkets will be open until 7 pm.

Karns Foods

Stores will be open on Wednesday, December 24th.

Publix

Publix locations will be closed for the Christmas Eve from 7 pm, and Christmas Day. Stores will reopen December 26th.

H-E-B

This Texas favorite is open for business until 8 pm on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025.

Target

Target stores are usually open on Christmas Eve until 8 pm.

Smart and Final

Smart and Final will be stay open for the holiday for 6 am - 7 pm, as it has in previous years.

Sprouts Farmers Market

Sprouts stores will be open on Christmas Eve and ready to serve their health-conscious shoppers until 2 pm.

ACME, Safeway

Owned by Albertsons, these stores will be open until 4 pm. The same applies to Jewel-Osco, Vons, and a few other regional chains under Albertsons umbrella. Pharmacies of this chains will be closed.

Winn Dixie

These stores will be open on Christmas Eve and closed Christmas Day.

Giant Food

Giant Food stores will be open until 7 pm on Christmas Eve and open on Christmas Day from 8 am to 5 pm.

Bob's of Windham IGA Markets

All stores of this chain will be open December 24th, 2025 until 5 pm.
